What will I learn?
Unless you have already done so or have an equivalent qualification, you will study Functional Skills in English and Maths at level 1.
You will gain an introduction to the world of work and develop knowledge of employee rights & responsibilities, health & safety and equality & diversity.
You will develop transferable skills: independent enquiry; creative thinking; reflective learning; team working; self-management; and effective participation.
How will I learn?
Much of the training will be undertaken ‘on the job’, supported by regular visits from a qualified assessor. The I.T and Telecoms Apprenticeship is a 12-18 month programme, with apprentices attending college 1 day per week to study for the knowledge element.
Ideally you will have achieved Grades A* – C in Maths & English GCSE (or equivalent), however we can provide support to obtain this level of qualification through functional skills training. If required, this will require additional college attendance.
Will I be employed by the business?
Yes. All apprentices must be in employment and working a minimum of 30 hours per week (including training/assessment). You will become a member of staff and will require an Apprenticeship Agreement (usually a contract of employment).
The minimum wage for an apprentice is currently £3.70 per hour, although the national average apprentice wage for a typical 16-18 year old is between £140-200 per week. For age 19+, the weekly wage can be higher, depending on previous experience, job role and previous qualifications.
