Funding and bursaries
Students if you’re aged over 19 you may be eligible for free tuition depending on the course you want to study, your existing qualifications and your financial circumstances. For more information email info@totton.ac.uk or call 023 8087 4874.
Advanced Learner Loans are available for students who are aged 19 or over. Repayments do not begin until the course is completed and you are earning £25,000 or over. Eligible learners will be enrolling on a level 3 or above course and are a UK or EU national. For further information, visit gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan.
Entry requirements
No formal qualifications are required.
Suitable for learners with an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP)
Courses are discussed during the application and enrolment process and are progression routes are reviewed as part of the annual review process each year. When deciding on the right course for the student, we consider the students’ prior qualifications and courses, academic ability, and social skills.
What will I learn?
Curriculum content varies between courses, but most cover English and maths skills, life skills, social skills, and work / employability skills.
Work Experience
This is dependent on the individual learner, but could be internal or external, as well as opportunities for group and individual work placements.
Modules
Dependent on course.
Assessment
Learners will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, such as photo, video and witness statements and written work, tailored to their individual needs.
Enrichment Opportunities
Learners can take part in enrichment activities such as swimming, sport, art, drama, environmental studies and accessing a local activity centre.
Learners also have opportunities to access the local community and trips throughout the year.
Career and Progression
Progression is dependent on individual needs and progress made each year. This is discussed as part of the annual review process each year.
Some learners are able to progress into some kind of employment, such as paid or volunteering and other students are supported into adulthood, such as into adult services.
