Open your eyes to a whole new world as you explore travel and tourism in the South coast, UK and beyond. You will have the opportunity to explore one of the world’s most dynamic and fast growing industries. It is a lively and busy course with the advantage of interesting trips and visits on which to base your study. This qualification in Travel and Tourism covers many aspects to help you develop the skills and knowledge that you need to prepare for your career within the industry, covering elements like air fares, travel geography, tour guiding, resort representatives and ski chalet hosts. You will learn the essentials of customer service and hospitality across the world, as well as an understanding of travel agency operations from teachers with experience from the industry such as travel agents, merchant navy and over sea reps.

Funding and bursaries

Advanced Learner Loans are available for students who are aged 19 or over. Repayments do not begin until the course is completed and you are earning £25,000 or over. Entry requirements

At least 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above ideally in maths and English or merit / distinction at Level 2 and have been strongly working towards English and maths GCSE.

Assessment

 You will be assessed through a combination of coursework, portfolio evidence, practical tasks and statements from teachers.  Currently there are no examinations on this course. However this is subject to awarding organisational changes.

Career and Progression

Completion of this course will allow you to progress straight into the travel and tourism industry such as travel agencies, cruise ships, holiday camps. Alternatively you could progress onto an apprenticeship or higher education (university) if preferred.
