Funding and bursaries
Students if you’re aged over 19 you may be eligible for free tuition depending on the course you want to study, your existing qualifications and your financial circumstances. For more information email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 023 8087 4874.
Advanced Learner Loans are available for students who are aged 19 or over. Repayments do not begin until the course is completed and you are earning £25,000 or over. Eligible learners will be enrolling on a level 3 or above course and are a UK or EU national. For further information, visit gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan.
At least three GCSEs at grade 3 (grade D), or a Merit or Distinction at BTEC Level 1, and the ability to play an instrument or sing for performance learners, or some experience with live sound or computer-based music production is needed.

All students are expected to complete two weeks’ work experience. We’ll help you organise your placement in a music-related business, e.g. Vinilo Records, River Studios or at a local school helping in the music department.
This one year course is a great introduction to the world of the music industry.
Depending on your focus and passion, you can choose from a range of options, including performance, composition, recording, live sound sequencing and music business.
Available modules include:
Solo performance skills
Multi-track audio recording
Working in the music industry
You’ll be assessed through a portfolio of practical assessment and written work.
You’ll have full access to our recording studio during enrichment sessions, and you’ll also get the chance to mentor and form bands with students from around the college.
Students can take part in a local battle of the bands and trips off campus, including to local gigging venues.
We have very close links with industry professionals who come in to do guest talks and lectures.
Career and Progression
You can progress onto Music Technology Level 3 where you will advance your skills and knowledge, or seek employment in the industry.
