So, you know the facts and benefits of an apprenticeship and you want to get signed up with Totton College. You may be wondering about the next step. There are a few ways to find an employer to take you on as an apprentice.
- You can apply for our current vacancies by checking @TCApprentices_ on Twitter. Every vacancy is posted, so it is important to follow us to keep up to date on these! You can follow the links from each tweet, which take you through to the live vacancy on the national apprenticeship website. Once you complete your application it comes straight through to us. We will then contact you to discuss the opportunity and find out a bit more about you, as well as answer any questions you might have. From this point we will forward your application to the employer.
- Become part of our apprenticeship recruitment service. Once you contact or meet with us, we will ask if you would like to become part of this. This means we will store your details and CV as part of our bank of potential apprentices so that when vacancies arise you are contacted and considered first. This ensures you never miss a great opportunity. With your permission, we forward your CV to the employer and support you in securing a fantastic apprenticeship. We also run recruitment sessions in the college. These sessions are incredibly valuable as they offer a chance for you to visit the college, meet members of the apprenticeship and our careers adviser, collect useful resources, research, find and apply for apprenticeships in a calm and quiet environment.
- Be proactive and approach employers. With an up-to-date CV and cover letter you can search to secure your own employer that would consider taking you on as an apprentice. We can’t stress enough how much this method shows your enthusiasm and dedication to the employer as well as us! It may seem daunting at first, that’s why we are here to support you. We can assist you in creating or updating your CV and cover letter, giving you tips on how to approach employers and offer a huge amount of encouragement.
