We are currently recruiting apprentices for roles in Totton, Southampton, Romsey and surrounding areas.

What is an Apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is a full-time job (around 30-hours per week) that allows you to earn money and gain experience in your chosen sector, while gaining an industry-recognised qualification that will help you to progress in your career.

Apprenticeships are a great alternative to the traditional A-level route. They are designed for those who are keen to start their careers early in their preferred industry. You will work closely with professionals on a day-to-day basis and will be assigned an assessor by Totton College to guide you through your on-programme learning and support you towards your End-Point Assessment (EPA).

Apprenticeships Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know whether an apprenticeship is right for me?

Apprenticeships are a great option if you already know what industry you want to work in, and you are looking for a way to earn money while studying towards a qualification. An apprenticeship allows you gain the qualification in your preferred industry allowing you to progress further in your career. Different levels of apprenticeships are available so you are able to enrol on the most suitable course for your experience. You can enrol onto an apprenticeship from the age of 16, and there is no upper age limit either. It’s never too late to start a new and exciting career!

What is the difference between an apprenticeship and a study programme?

An apprenticeship is a full-time job in a specific industry, where you will study your chosen industry in-depth and gain a qualification while earning a wage. Whereas, a study programme is a full-time course, meaning you will be at college between 3-4 times a week studying across a broader range of sectors. It completely depends on how you prefer to learn – there is no right or wrong answer and both paths give you a nationally recognised qualification to progress in your workplace or into higher education. How much will I get paid?

Apprentices get paid different amount depending the sector you are in. All apprentices will be paid the National Minimum Apprenticeship Wage which is currently £4.81 per hour, but most apprentices are paid more than this.
