Dr Maxine Room                                       Hannah Avoth

Totton College has announced it has appointed Dr Maxine Room CBE as Campus Principal. Dr Room, who has a wealth of experience and has led innovative work in the sector, will take over from Derek Headrige who resigned in mid-July, and has taken a promotion to a new role within the education and training sector.

Dr Room will be supported by current Assistant Principal, Hannah Avoth, who will be promoted to Vice Principal, and Acting Campus Principal where required.

Nacro’s Director of Education Lisa Capper said, “This is a strong set of appointments and I know they will take the College to the next stage of its successful development.”

“Derek joined Totton College shortly after the charity, Nacro, took over eighteen months ago. In that time it has improved its Ofsted rating and results and has introduced a number of high quality, technical courses and apprenticeships to match the needs of the local community and industry demands.

“Dr Room’s appointment will be from Monday 9 October, enabling her to work alongside Derek for a week to ensure a smooth and seamless handover.”
