A day in the life of a college principal.

We were very fortunate to have the New Milton Advertiser come along to get insight into a day in the life of our principal, Dr. Maxine Room CBE.

Maxine was observed during a busy day at Totton College, which took in staff catch-ups, a health and safety meeting, a student one-to-one, a meeting about apprenticeships and a visit to some Skills for Life sessions. The interviewer was clearly struck by the energy and enthusiasm of Maxine and all the staff at the college, how proud they were of Totton college students, as well as the care and attention given to the specific needs of each individual learner.

The article closes with a quote from Maxine which communicates her ethos as Principal: “I always try to be there as a listening ear for colleagues and students – it is important sometimes to sit back and listen to someone else’s experience.
