Supported Internships are aimed specifically at students with Education, Health and Care plans up to the age of 24 who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities. If they are motivated about work and want to progress to paid employment, this course can help them on the path to success.

This is a one year programme offered to suitable existing students who are capable of gaining Entry 3 or level 1 qualification. It is designed to help them develop work skills in Customer Service. Each student will have the opportunity to work in placements both internally and externally.

Initially students will receive three days teaching until their work placements commence and thereafter one day of study and two days of work experience placement leading up to full three days’ work experience placement with a job coach to support the student and the employer.

Entry requirements

As well as having a strong desire to secure a job and move into paid employment, students will need to have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan, and relevant skills at Entry 3 or Level 1.


This course is designed to enable the students to progress into work by building on existing skills to give them the relevant qualifications and work related skills needed to prepare them for employment.

Depending on which course you take, you’ll have an award, a certificate or a diploma.

Multiple choice examination papers, portfolio and work placements assessments and observations.
