Theatre Hire

Main auditorium and theatre space

The main auditorium is the largest space in the arts centre and provides an area suitable for performance, workshops and classes and also for conferences, meetings and public debates. The maximum seating capacity is 200, using a mixture of 100 stacking and folding chairs and 100 fixed and tiered bleacher seats. The performance area is at floor level, with a PA system, a full lighting rig (see Lighting and Technical Specification for more information), CCTV link to backstage, a COMMS system and an infra red loop (see disabled access).

A carousel slide projector, TV with built in VHS player, overhead projector, urn, laptop projector, projection screen and kitchen facilities are all available to hire. Please specify which of these you would like access to when booking for your event.

The centre has access to metra-deck staging. If staging is required, please contact the Centre for more information on sizes and arrangements.

Access to the auditorium is via the main entrance to the arts centre but vehicles may deliver items to the loading doors by prior arrangement with the Centre Co-ordinator.

The floor is fully sprung to accommodate dance activities and physical workshops. The bleacher seats are fully retractable and can be stored away on prior arrangement with the centre. The seating capacity can be altered to suit the event. Minimum capacity is 100 seats unless removed completely.

All detailed practical arrangements (e.g. staging requirements/ seating plans) must be advised well in advance of the event so that staff are able to carry out your requirements.

To hire the theatre space for an event or production, please contact the centre directly to confirm that the dates are available and to notify of any particular set-up arrangements. Please then complete the booking application form and return it to the arts centre.

Please refer to the Standard Hire Charges for information on standard hire charges. These are current rates and are subject to annual review. For payment terms, please read our conditions of hire.

To view the facilities, please contact the Centre Co-ordinator to arrange a suitable time.
