Summary
This course is aimed at people who want to pursue their interest in Massage as a career, which not only concentrate on physical ailments, but also treats the mind, body and spirit. The qualification comprises of Massage, Anatomy and Physiology, Health, Safety and Hygiene as well as Principles and Practices of Complementary Therapies.
About the Course
Course Aims
A perfect stepping stone for those who have no previous experience to work towards a level 3 professional qualification. To enable the student to gain competence in Massage, so that employment or self-employment may be gained.
What are the entry requirements?
A good understanding of English, a level of general education comparable to GCSE or above, related qualifications or a genuine interest in the subject area. It is recommended that you have already undertaken some form of study of human biology or anatomy and physiology, such as previous beauty/holistic courses, A levels, C grade or above at GCSE etc.
How is the course assessed?
You will be required to produce a portfolio of assignments case studies, which are performed through out the course. You will be required to sit a 2 hour, 80 multiple-choice question, online exam to complete the anatomy and physiology unit.
You will also perform a final graded practical assessment, in a realistic working environment, which will go towards your final grade for the diploma.
Are there any resources to obtain?
It is recommended that you purchase an anatomy and physiology textbook (£18.00), which you can get from the college when you begin your course, there is also a workbook to accompany this which can also be purchased when you begin. Other books will be recommended but are not essential. You will need a folder in order to produce your portfolio, and use of a computer in your own time is advisable.

Are there any other costs?
Students are required to wear a plain white tunic (order forms are available from the college if required) with black trousers and low-heeled fully enclosed shoes. An exam re-sit fee of £20.60 if required.
What next?
Successful completion of the course can lead to other specialist courses, such as level 3 diploma in Aromatherapy techniques, level 2 or 3 diploma in complementary therapies, also sports massage and career opportunities.
