Course Aims
To provide candidates with the skills, knowledge and understanding of emergency first aid to provide appropriate care and manage life threatening conditions, illness and injuries that may occur in a workplace environment.
To offer the opportunity for an individual who may become the Appointed Person or Emergency First Aider to gain the skills and knowledge to provide quality and effective first aid whenever the need may occur. This is achieved through an understanding of the general duties, legal responsibilities and treatment principles of first aid.

How is the course assessed?
Candidates will be internally assessed against the assessment criteria of the qualification using a marking guide that is externally set and moderated by FAQ. The internal assessment is conducted by the candidates' facilitator/assessor using ongoing practical assessment combined with a multiple choice questionnaire of underpinning knowledge, understanding and application.

The EFA has been mapped against the relevant National Occupational Standards in Health and therefore progression may be achieved via a range of qualifications, setting-specific awards and units of the NVQ's in Health
