Totton College 'on air'

Totton College 'on air'Totton College and Unity 101 Radio have combined forces on an innovative and exciting project to bring Totton College Radio beyond the College and across the whole of Hampshire.  The award winning Media Department at the College have thrown themselves into the project, which includes major investment into the College recording studio facilities and captures the imagination of students.

Totton College Radio is a cross-college radio station, which provides all students with the opportunity to get involved in roles ranging from Presenter, Station Manager and Researcher through to Production Assistant.  Unity 101 radio has been able to provide training support and assistance to this venture and will also enable students to broadcast weekly across Hampshire on Friday afternoons.

Ram Kalyon, Head of Unity 101 Radio, said "I'm delighted to provide resources and knowledge for young people to reach higher Grounds."

Student Harry Mabbett said "This is an excellent opportunity for us as students to express ourselves to others in the College."

Richard Eno, Head of Media said "Radio has the potential to unlock an exciting and under used medium.  We are now able to offer an even wider media experience further increasing students future options at University and elsewhere."

Mark Bramwell, College Principal, said "I am an admirer of radio as a broadcast media, particularly local radio.  I think that Unity 101 are doing a particularly fine service for the community and it was natural for us to look to them as a business partner.   To regularly broadcast live to the City region is a wonderful opportunity for our students, particularly with the expert support of experienced radio professionals".
