Totton College’s Best Ever Inspection Result!

Totton College was very successful in its recent Ofsted Inspection.  In the eleven grades awarded the College achieved three at ‘Outstanding’ and eight at ‘Good’.  Inspectors, in the week long inspection, particularly praised

• Outstanding progress for A Level students
• That the needs and interests of students are outstandingly met

• Students' additional learning support that is of high quality
• High quality resources
• Lessons that are very well planned and executed
• A rigorous and thorough lesson observation scheme
• Learning that is engaging and interesting
• Tutorial provision that is very good
• The rigorous monitoring of student progress
• The rigorous monitoring of student attendance
• Strong and effective partnerships
• Highly skilled teachers
• Excellent management information
  

This inspection, in October 2008, follows on from an Ofsted Inspection of the College's A Level provision in December 2007 in which the College achieved 'Outstanding' in all five judgements.

Mark Bramwell, College Principal, says "we have had an incredible twelve months of success.  We have our highest number of students ever after two years of incredible recruitment.  We also have had our most successful inspection yet, following our best ever examination results.  This Inspection of all our provision confirms how highly regarded this College is particularly after being inspected a year ago for our A Level provision and graded Outstanding on all five judgements including Outstanding Academic Standards.

We are the only Sixth Form College in the New Forest and it is important that everyone in the Community including students, parents and employers know that their Sixth Form College is so successful.  We are pleased with our progress but not complacent and have exciting plans for new courses and facilities.  The Governors, Staff and Students have a shared view of what we want for our community.  This excellent inspection gives yet more evidence of how well we are doing."
