Totton College wins Good Schools Guide Award

The Good Schools Guide Award was given to students on the 'BTEC National Diploma in Music' for having the best results achieved by boys taking music studies at an English School.

Students on the 'BTEC National Diploma in Music' were studying a course which is equivalent to three A levels, with 83% of students receiving a distinction (equivalent to three grade A's at A Level).  These grades are even more remarkable as the majority of students did not have a strong academic background when starting the course.  

The course has a long track record of success with the majority of students progressing to study at degree level and a number now working as professional musicians, either as Band members, technicians or teachers.  Students have access to excellent industry standard facilities and are taught by trained teachers who are also professional musicians.

Brian Price, Head of Performing Arts, said, "When students leave the college they are equipped with all they need to go on and progress to a successful career in music.  We are proud of the standard of teaching that we achieve and students who have gone on to read music at degree level often come back to thank us for the groundwork we have provided. Students leave Totton College having had two of the best years of their lives, with their passion being supported and encouraged by excellent teaching and facilities."
