Bishop Quizzed by Totton College Students
(The Bishop and the Actress!)

The Right Reverend Paul Butler the Suffragan Bishop of Southampton visited Totton College for an eventful and challenging day. In the morning Bishop Paul met the Principal, Mark Bramwell, and the executive team as well as the college Chaplain, Chris Rowberry.
In the afternoon the challenge started when Bishop Paul chaired a debating session with twenty college students. He answered a wide range of questions with great honesty and conviction. Subjects covered included his opinion on gay marriages, civil partnerships and whether women should be ordained. Britain's multi-faith and multi-cultural society was also discussed as of course was the 'Make Poverty History Campaign' which is particularly close to Bishop Paul's heart. Throughout this mix of topical issues Bishop Paul talked about Christian faith and the perceptions of society.
Students appointed Dawn James AKA 'The Actress' who studies Drama, Performance Studies, English & History as spokesperson. Dawn is planning to go to university this year to read English with Drama.
