Totton College at the Centre of Excellence
Totton College Services to Business training centre based at Wade Park, Ower, has received the coveted CoVE plaque, (Centre of Vocational Excellence) for applied ICT for Business. It has now become the only 6th form College in Hampshire to do so.
To highlight this achievement, a ceremony held at Totton College's performing arts centre, Hanger Farm, saw students proudly collect their course certificates, and Totton College's Principal, Mark Bramwell receive the award from Mr Rob Munson, Director of Operations & Quality, Local Learning Skills Council.
The Services to Business Centre continues to grow after establishing itself at the Wade Park site in 2002 and is now offering an even more extensive curriculum for 2005/6.
This expansion is based firmly on the College's underpinning belief that, as stated by Mark Bramwell in his address to those present; "everybody has the basic right to learn, and it is our duty to ensure that this right is fulfilled" Mark Bramwell & Julia Bateman, Director for Skills awarded certificates at the ceremony, which was attended not only by Learners, but by staff from both Totton College and the Services to Business Centre team, some of which had undertaken studies themselves. A light buffet and refreshments were supplied by Hannah Standen, the Hanger Farm Arts Centre Manager after the ceremony, when staff, students and their families mixed in the modern foyer, and expressed how rewarding the evening was, 'the building's character made a wonderful evening even better'.
