Introductory Certificate in First Line Management
The Introductory Certificate in First Line Management is a flexible level 3 qualification course offered by Services to Business, part of Totton College. It is designed for those who are in, or aspire to, their first management or supervisor role. It is a generic qualification and is suitable for a wide range of vocations.

Leisure & Tourism In Schools
On Friday 9th December, the 2nd year AVCE Travel and Tourism team at Totton College carried out an event at Abbotswood School to a class of year 6 pupils - 6M, Miss Moffats Group.

High Achievers visit IBM
Ten Totton College students in their first year of A levels attended the IBM 'High Achievers' Day held at their Hursley site. The site is home to some of the most cutting edge software developments within IBM UK including the development of JAVA Technology.

College Principal Elected to National Office
Mark Bramwell, Principal of Totton College, has been elected National Chairman of the Education Client Forum for the prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects. He will be leading the forum for three years which brings together leading practitioners in architecture and Further Education. They will advise policy makers on good practice in building and design in Education, with a view to improving the quality of learning environment. Their conferences, seminars and research publications are used for reference purposes by the architect profession and related design professions.

Totton College Swimmers Join Thousands to Save Lives
The swimmers from Totton College had aimed to swim the channel and back. In the end they dug deep and managed to beat this target swimming 71466m in two hours. Swimming coach and ex commonwealth Games Silver medalist and 100m Backstroke British record holder Steve Harrison managed his own personal target of 4000m.

Foundations for Success
Totton College was delighted to have 16 Totton College students receive their Foundation Degree in Healthcare at Southampton University recently. The Totton students joined 36 gradates from 3 FE colleges in the region. Many have moved on to employment and others have joined the second year of a degree in Nursing or Podiatry.

Jeans from Principal
Totton College Principal Mark Bramwell lead the way on Jeans for Genes day last week by sporting a novel mix of formal and non-formal wear. Remaining seated in his office like a newsreader he kept his jeans hidden until tempted outside for a picture.

Iyegar Compliments Sports Fitness & Strength
The popular perception of Yoga is for relaxation and meditation. Iyengar Yoga founded by BKS Iyengar of Prune, India is a system of traditional yoga postures with a strong emphasis on correct alignment of the body. Practicing these postures, with the guidance of a qualified instructor will compliment sports and more traditional forms of exercise leading to a feeling of lightness and freedom of movement in the limbs; this in turn relieves stress giving a great sense of well-being and mental balance.

Before Domesday to the Future
On Saturday 26 November, Totton College Lifelong Learning Department invite those interested in local Maritime History to attend a day focussing on six people and six ships and their contribution to transport, trade and defence. Those attending are asked to bring a relevant item, photo or postcard or just their memories to add to the topics for the day.

A Cause for Celebration
Totton College is celebrating another increase in it's A level pass rate to 97% in this summers examinations. The high grade pass grades also increased up to 63%. Twenty five subjects achieved a 100% pass rate. In the vocational A levels 98.4% passed with 68.8% at high grades.

Totton College 2005 Results Classed As 'Excellent'
The examination results in this year's AS and A level courses at Totton College have been graded as 'Excellent'. The results have been analysed by an independent National Educational Research agency and advisor to the Department of Education and Skills. They have compared the results of students in their courses throughout England in both Colleges and Schools. The results are compared to the ability of the students on entry to the College and are referred to as the 'value added' performance.

Pablo Paul Comes To Hanger Farm
Pablo Paul (aka Paul Rapson) has lived in the Waterside area of the New Forest for the last 45 years. Picking up a camera for the very first time when he was 14, he then proceeded to teach himself the basics and discover the magic of the darkroom.
