Totton Art Student Sweeps the Board

Susan Phillips, a Totton College student from Applemore, has won first prize in all three categories of the New Forest County Council Art 4U competition. The competition was launched to find and reward the most talented young artists in the region in technical art, sculpture and painting and drawing.

More than 125 students from the region entered the competition and the judges felt that the standard of entry was very high. To win in one category would have been an achievement to win all three was outstanding.

Susan's work will be displayed with the other winners at the NFDC festival of Youth on the 11 September. The exhibition will then move to NFDC offices in Lyndhurst and finally onto New Forest Arts in New Milton. Understandably Susan is delighted with the prize money of £250 and her first travelling exhibition! She commented "I really didn't expect to hear anything and to find out I have won all three categories has been amazing. I am ecstatic!"
