Make-Up Competition Winners

The winners of the Festival of Colour 2003 student beauty therapy competition at Totton College have been announced.

The make-up category has two winners. The Greek Mythology theme was won by Zara Francis-Caville for 'Dryad' and Danni Smith won the Hollywood Legends theme for her interpretation of 'James Dean'. Winner of the nail extensions category was Lisa Harmon.

All three winners will be competing against colleges from all over the UK in the national finals next month at the London Olympia.

All competition entrants were responsible for their own make-up and costume design for the catwalk show and film display of nail extensions.

Danni Smith, aged 18, winner of the Hollywood Legends theme said, 'The Festival of Colour was very interesting project. It gave us the opportunity to showcase our skills. When they announced my name, I couldn't believe I had won. I was stunned but I'm really pleased.

I'm going to use James Dean effect in the national finals. I chose him because he was a real inspiration to a lot of people having died so young. He was a talented man who made a huge impact on popular culture of the time."
