A modern design for a college looking to the future

Totton College is completing a £2.2m building development to be opened on 3 March this year. The new building will become the impressive new frontage for the College from Calmore Road. The new facilities include:

· Outstanding drop-in IT Centre

· New Student Centre, Lounge and Refectory

· Purpose built Music Centre and Recording Studio

· One 'stop-shop' Guidance Centre

· Language Laboratory

· Training and Conference Room

· Exhibition Hall

· New classrooms

· New reception

The College campus has been transformed in the last five years with £5.9m invested in new buildings and facilities as well as extensive modernisation of existing learning facilities. All new facilities are accessible to disabled people, which is also a requirement under the Disability Discrimination Legislation.

The College will be commissioning a piece of original art work to feature in the new foyer. The commission will be available to college staff and students as well as local professional artists.

Mark Bramwell, College Principal, points out that "This is our largest single investment yet in the modernisation of the Campus. Our aim is to provide the latest facilities for our students, staff and the wider community.

The building is exciting - giving a whole new feel to the campus; welcoming but truly impressive day or night. It reflects the success of the College and a sense of optimism that we are well on track to be one of the most outstanding sixth form colleges in England."
