Totton College achieves Excellence Benchmark

Totton College has been described as 'excellent' in its student achievement for 2001 though an independent national study. Value added achievement of A Level was compared through a sample of over 300 colleges. The College score matched the benchmark for excellence, achieved by less than 10% of colleges. Three of its subjects, English Literature, Design and Accounting achieved the top results in the national sample. Three further subjects, Art, German and Music were amongst the best scores in the sample. Half the College subjects were described at least as high achieving.

Mark Bramwell, College Principal, pointed out that these results showed a further improvement on the outstanding results in 200O. He added that the target for next year was for all departments to achieve at least a high achieving grade and the College overall, again matches the excellence benchmark.
