An exciting future for Totton College
Totton College has committed itself to a new accommodation strategy that will create some of the best facilities in sixth form colleges nationally. The first phase, costing £1.6m, will begin on the 4 February. Two further stages will follow consecutively, amounting to a further £2.5m.
Mark Bramwell, College Principal, suggested that "The College has invested £2m in the Campus in the last five years and our partners have added a further £1.5m investment in the buildings. We now have some excellent facilities. However, we are determined to provide the very best for our students, staff and the wider community andthe first phase of our further modernisation will be completed at the end of the summer. I believe people will be thrilled when they see the new building, which we are calling the South Wing. The College team working on this is first class, with first rate advice by our Architect - David Sharp, Consultant - John Gentle and Engineer - Andrew Waring".
The new phase of the College will include:
· A new teaching block, including an outstanding IT facility and Language laboratory
· A new unified Student Guidance area
· New Reception
· New Gallery area
· New Music suite
· New Refectory
· New Student Lounge
· New Training suite
· Landscaping and improved access to the building will further enhance the Campus.
The design of the new building will reflect the confidence of the College and will add to the aesthetic appearance of the whole campus.
Mark Bramwell adds:
"We are an accredited sixth form college with a 95% pass rate at A-level this year. The College grew by 11% this year, following a growth of 8% last year. This investment in the next three years in our college will amount to nearly £4m and reflects our confidence and optimism."
