Scientific Success
Totton College's Engineering Education Scheme team were fantastic representatives recently at their 'Celebration & Assessment Day' at HMS Sultan, near Portsmouth. They were an absolute credit to themselves; they spoke with such confidence and ease to the panel of Chartered Engineers who were judging them in 11 categories as part of their gruelling assessment day. This included a formal presentation of 15 minutes divided between the team of 4 to describe the project they have conducted since its conception last October until today's date.

Experiencing the Drought
Totton College Year 2 students, studying BTEC Level 3 Public Services, recently completed a very damp yet enjoyable two-day expedition in the New Forest. The twelve students had to complete the walk carrying all their own equipment for the two day experience.

Volunteering Home and Away
Eight Totton College students together with Sports teacher Lee Morgan and June Crump, Student Services Manager, recently returned from a two week African Adventures volunteering trip to Nakuru, a rural part of Kenya. This was the third visit to this region by Totton College students in three years and saw them volunteer in a primary school with over 450 children, mostly orphans of HIV Aids victims.

Totton College Announces New Student Transport Service in Partnership with Xelabus
This partnership will provide all Totton College Student bus services for the Waterside area for two years from September 2012. The introduction of the new "Pay as you go" initiative will be rolled out across the 3 daily bus services that start in the new Autumn term. This means that wherever students travel from in 2012/13, amazingly they will only pay a maximum of £1 each way! This partnership also encompasses a completely new service for 2012/13, providing transport from Marchwood, Hounsdown and Ashurst to and from the college.

Wiltshire Winners
Totton College students Lewis French, 18 and Sam Pittman 19, both from Salisbury have recently had their creative work recognised. Lewis won the Hythe and Waterside 'Young Photographer of the Year award' for his images on Olympic Spirit. He is currently studying A-level Photography at Totton and hopes to progress onto the Art Foundation at the college next year, further developing his talent in Art and Design.

Wheel to Wheel
Totton College, Administration (Business Professional) students, recently completed an 8 mile New Forest Cycle ride to raise funds for two charities, Naomi House and Jack's Place.

The Future's Looking and Sounding Good
Totton College have embarked on a brand new project providing enhanced facilities for their Hair & Beauty and Media courses. The building is due to be completed ready for use at the start of college in September 2012.

House of Lords Peer at Totton College
Totton College recently hosted a talk from Lord Stoneham, a member of the House of Lords. The visit was designed to encourage students to engage more with the political and parliamentary process. Lord Stoneham met with the Politics students and talked for an hour on the role of the House of Lords.

A Students Tale; The Disney Adventure
For the A2 Travel and Tourism course we needed to plan and run an event, and after much consideration we finally decided on a trip to Disneyland Paris over a day trip to London or Disney World Orlando.

Totton College Students' Titanic Show
Totton College AS-Level Textiles students have had their work accepted for display at an open Art Exhibition at Southampton City Art Gallery. Over three hundred pieces of Art were submitted for the exhibition, so having their work selected is a fantastic achievement. The students worked together to create Batik pieces which are assembled together for the show.
