The College is committed to the ideal of social justice and it aims to provide an environment which is free from discrimination and where all individuals have the opportunity to achieve their full potential with a feeling of self-esteem. All members of the College Community should work together to promote equality, value diversity and respect difference.

Our Equality and Diversity Policy contains the following statement of intent:

"The College is committed to the ideal of social justice and it aims to provide an environment which is free from discrimination and where all individuals have the opportunity to achieve their full potential with a feeling of self-esteem. The College acknowledges the presence of, and expresses its opposition to, all forms of harassment and inequality in society which result from race, ethnic origin, nationality, colour, religion or belief, language, disability, ability, learning difficulty, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age or class. The College also recognizes the influence it has externally with the many people and organizations with whom it interacts and it intends that its influence shall be used to promote equality of opportunity.

Passive support for equal opportunities is not enough as inequalities created by direct and indirect discrimination, victimization, segregation, stereotyping and other inequalities, affect everyone and challenging them must be the responsibility of all. It is the responsibility of all members of the College Community to act in accordance with the spirit of this document, actively seeking to remove hidden barriers, and giving fair treatment to all regardless of any perceived difference".

Why Totton?

David Lee

David Lee - Applemore College

Studying: A-Level Maths, ICT, Business Studies and Accounting

I visited Cadburys world with Business Studies, it was a great day out. Also I had a visit to Bournemouth University to take part in an 'Accounting Challenge' where we competed against other 6th Form teams. I've had work experience arranged through college; working in a major accountancy firm for a week, excellent for my CV.

Totton College has given me a sense of freedom, a great education, more confidence to speak out when presenting information and loads of new friends. It has an extensive range of facilities that I find useful, such as free use of the gym and swimming pool. The atmosphere in the college means that I can get on with work without any distractions, but the help is always there when you need.
