Helena Kennedy Foundation Supports Totton College Student Success

Helena Kennedy Foundation Supports Totton College Student SuccessCarol Simpson-Grant a Totton College adult student has successfully obtained support from the Helena Kennedy Foundation. Since 1998, the Helena Kennedy Foundation has been running a bursary scheme to provide much needed financial support to disadvantaged students, who have successfully completed a further education course and wish to progress onto higher education.

Each year the Helena Kennedy Foundation invites Further Education colleges, Adult Education centres and Sixth Form colleges to nominate a student to receive a HKF bursary to support their progression to Higher Education.

Totton College tutor Alicia Hawkes stated, 'I am very proud and pleased with Carol's achievement in obtaining a bursary from the Helena Kennedy Foundation.  Carol enrolled onto the Back in Business course in September 2007 which she successfully completed and gained a Diploma in Business Administration at Level 2.  She continued with her studies in September 2008 by enrolling onto the Executive Administrator Level 3 course which helped her to increase her skills and knowledge in Business Administration.  Despite huge personal problems, she was able to stay motivated and positive.  Her resilience has enabled her to obtain a place at Southampton Solent University to read Business Management.  I know that without the support that she has received from the Helena Kennedy Foundation she would not be able to progress in her studies'.
