Reaching the Standard

Totton College were joined at Hanger Farm Arts Centre by members of the local business community from Southampton and the New Forest areas to celebrate more success in achieving the nationally recognised Training Quality Standard.

Quality, Quality, Quality

Totton College is celebrating success by becoming the second Sixth Form College in the country, and the first in the South, to have been awarded the prestigious ‘Training Quality Standard’ (TQS). Totton College is delighted to have gained this, the highest training accolade possible, in recognition of its excellent work with employers. It is built on a firm foundation of previous success as the College remains the only Sixth Form College in the country to have received the esteemed ‘Action for Business Status’.

Things Looking Bright at Totton College

The recently completed Cove (Centre of Vocational Excellence) building at Totton College has moved a step closer to being greener by installing solar power. The use of panels on the Cove building roof is the latest in a number of eco friendly initiatives taken up at the college such as recycling, bikes used for travelling to and from the college and energy efficient lighting and computers.

Totton College Learners Go Up in the DP World!

Terminal Operators and Controllers from DP World Southampton’s container terminal have recently completed their ITQ level 2 training through Totton College. This was an innovative joint approach between DP World Southampton and Totton College to up skill the workforce in new technologies. The learning was arranged on site using college laptops to train the learners.

Helena Kennedy Foundation Supports Totton College Student Success

Carol Simpson-Grant a Totton College adult student has successfully obtained support from the Helena Kennedy Foundation. Since 1998, the Helena Kennedy Foundation has been running a bursary scheme to provide much needed financial support to disadvantaged students, who have successfully completed a further education course and wish to progress onto higher education.

Totton College’s Best Ever Inspection Result!

Totton College was very successful in its recent Ofsted Inspection. In the eleven grades awarded the College achieved three at ‘Outstanding’ and eight at ‘Good’.

Totton University of the 3rd Age (U3A)

Totton 'University of the Third Age' group (U3A) was formed in 2005. It was set up with the help and support of Totton College when Sheila Webb, who was then the Adult & Part time Course Co-ordinator, organised an interest meeting at Hanger Farm Arts Centre attended by about 50 people.

'A little Taste of Italy' is the title of a Saturday morning workshop being delivered by Franco Guelfi on Saturday 10 May when students will receive a demonstration and taste of authentic Italian cuisine from the Lazio region.
